On October 17th the Capital Poetry Collective is celebrating the 5th anniversary of the very first Capital Slam show! Over the last five years, Capital Slam has created a space for local spoken word poets to share their work within the exciting slam format. Capital Slam has also featured poets and other artists from all across Canada - bringing them to the Ottawa audience to share their art.

Founded by Greg 'Ritallin' Frankson and Elissa Molino, Capital Slam has formed Slam teams and sent them to the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word ever since the first one (then called the Wordlympics) right here in Ottawa! They have also created a recording every year entitled 'Live at Capital Slam' to spotlight the talent flowing through the city and the show.

Now the Capital Poetry Collective is bringing poets from throughout the last five years for a special show.
