Art Show of the Week:  Playing with War
Vernissage - July 12th, 2009 | Show runs until July 28th, 2009

This bold, bright, thought-provoking exhibit from emerging artist Veronica Keith showcases her imaginative repurposing of children's toys to create sculptures that are at once whimsical and layered with meaning.

Working with what must have been dozens of packages of toy soldiers in varying sizes, along with toy guns, grenades, airplanes, helicopters and assorted other plastic toys, Veronica Keith has crafted a mesmerizing collection that will definitely require a second and third look.  Each glance at the complex, colourful pieces reveals something more hidden in a detailed surface.

Using simple children's toys as its primary medium, Playing With War addresses the tangled, relentless nature of war and subtly directs the viewer toward the discovery of meaning in each piece.
